What is Tradescantia Nanouk?

Tradescantia ‘Nanouk’ is a compact, fast-growing trailing houseplant with intensely colored leaves striped in pink, white, and green. Light: the most critical factor

Tradescantia Nanouk requires bright light to maintain its pink and white coloration. Direct sun for 2–4 hours daily combined with bright indirect light for the rest of the day produces the most vivid leaf color. Less light produces green plants.

Light recommendations by window direction in US homes:

  • South-facing window: Best. Full sun exposure for several hours combined with strong indirect light. Place the plant 6–18 inches from the glass to avoid scorching in summer.
  • West-facing window: Very good. Afternoon direct sun and bright indirect light in the morning. Same distance from glass as south window.

  1. Cut stem sections 3–4 inches long with scissors or pruners, just below a leaf node
  2. Remove the lowest 1–2 leaves from the cut section

  4. Place in bright indirect light
  5. Change water every 5–7 days to prevent bacteria buildup

  2. Pinch (or cut with scissors) the tip off just above a leaf node
